My name is Randy and I am a licenced mental health nurse with extra accreditation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Life Coaching. After my studies which I have conducted in the Netherlands, I have spent almost 8 years working abroad (in the Caribbean and in Barcelona, Spain) in diverse psychiatric settings. From crisis admission units to long term stay wards, and from working as a casemanager in multidisciplinary neighborhood teams to giving group therapy and individual guidance in a dayhospital for people struggling with addiction and mental illness. At the moment I am working in the Netherlands as a, casemanager in a Community Treatment Team for psychiatric care, offering individual therapeutic guidance and group therapy sessions.
Besides my work and interest in psychiatry and psychology, I am also active in physical health and well being. I have worked as a sports instructor with a main focus on kickboxing, self defense and fitness. Apart from movement and activity, I believe that well being is also very much influenced by nutrition and diet, which is why I have spent my fair time diving in the literature and applying it in life and in my therapeutic sessions. By combining the mental aspect, with the physical needs and finding our values for spiritual wholeness, I apply a holistic vision in creating wellness and a life well lived.
I believe we are all life long learners and can make the most out of every day if we choose to do so.
My approach is to first get to know you and the story behind the persona that sitting in front of me. Through deeper exploration based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy I like to dive deeper and shed light on underlying thought patterns which limit or enable us to grow into the life that we want. After exploration of the self, we will see how your environments, your habits, and other life areas influence your current life situation thus creating more resources and awareness of what is helpful and what is not.
Once the first part of exploration is done, it is time to get to work. Time to ACT, according to your values. We will take your values as the guiding principles on your path towards a ideal you and ideal life and together form a plan of how to get where you want to be.
As mentioned before, I believe that no problem springs from one source. Which is why we will apply a holistic approach in which the mental, physical, and spiritual will unite you with your environment.
Born and raised in the Netherlands and went to travel and work in other parts of the world in 2012. I returned last year in the Netherlands and am now looking to make my entrance in the online realm.
I am am active person and engage in sports such as Crossfit, Fitness, Calesthenics and Martial Arts. I love to write, read books, learn and teach. Main fields of interest are definitely in the field of Self Development, our Physiology and physical wellbeing, psychology and psychiatry, and nutrition. I am social, love to travel and meet new people and I believe that we all need to get out of the comfort zone to ensure that we can grow.
