15 Years of Experience

My Credentials:

I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist and a Gestalt Counsellor with 15+ years of experience. I hold a MSc in Applied Social Research (Trinity College Dublin) and a MA in Gestalt Organisational Development Consulting (Relational Change, London). I have a longstanding experience counseling people who are going through personal or work related crisis in an international environment. In my previous career as a social researcher I published articles on family and career choices of workers in the international service/finance industry. I then moved on to providing guidance to highly skilled professionals involved in large company restructuring and take overs, both on individual and group settings.
I am currently involved with a NHS funded family center providing therapy to couples and parents from Northern Africa, Balkans and India. Parallel to the private practice I lead soft skills experiential training groups in for-profit and non-profit organisations. I give workshops in Italian Gestalt training institutes and during international conferences across Europe. I contribute articles to Gestalt Therapy journals mainly on the subject of talent development.

My Approach:

My aim is to provide clinically aware psychological support to internationally minded individuals, couples and families. I am also aware of many organisational, legal, familial, and cultural peculiarities that are the daily background of expats lives. I found in Gestalt therapy gives a dynamic and experiential approach to healing and personal growth very much in tune with the complex times we live in.

The main tenet of gestalt therapy is that each individual person, couple or family organically absorbs from their original environment attitudes, emotional patterns and ways of understanding people or events that might not be currently effective. People’s background might actually hinder or limit their ability to cope with distressing circumstances. Instead of focusing on the origin of these personal or cultural habits, a Gestalt Therapist supports a client to learn new skills to better cope with the challenges she is facing now.

Gestalt therapists focus on the present moment, encouraging clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours as they unfold in real-time during the session. Through dialogue, deep listening, guided imagery, and mindfulness, clients gain deeper insight into their behavioural and emotional patterns, discover new possibilities for change, relief and self-love.

As a Gestalt practitioner I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship to facilitate transformation. Sessions provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their inner world, offering support and guidance as they navigate their journey of self-discovery. Together, we work collaboratively to uncover underlying issues, cultivate self-awareness, and promote personal empowerment.

About me:

I am 53 year old, married, with a child of 5 enthusiastically entering life. We are part of an extended family with members and friends spread all over the world. I love what I do for a living, and I am still curious about people’s life, stories and circumstances. I lived in Ireland and Argentina and I am currently part of an international network of mental health practitioners spread all over Europe, South Eastern Asia and the U.S.A. I am currently based on Lake Garda, Italy, and my clients are often members of the thriving local international community, people from all walks of life who settled over the years in this beautiful spot. I love reading, walking and cooking. I personally take care of the vegetable garden, a wonderful way to keep in shape and provide my family with mouthwatering organic food.
