I am a English and Dutch speaking Psychologist, specialised in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and presently residing in Amsterdam, Netherland. I obtained my honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Amsterdam and pursued my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychodiagnostics Basic Registration certificate (BAPD) at the University of Amsterdam as well.
I have been in practice in the Netherlands since 2011 and I am a registered Psychologist and member of the Dutch Institute for Psychologists (NIP). I have clinical experience in the following areas: depression, anxiety, social anxiety, phobia, panic attacks, stress, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), trauma, burn-out and reintegration, relationship problems and challenges related to (adult) giftedness and being a highly sensitive person.
In addition to my clinical practice, I have pursued a career as a researcher and senior strategy consultant advising companies, NGO’s and governments on optimising their business strategy and public policies using and implementing knowledge from the behavioural sciences. As an international speaker I have lectured at industry conferences, I led the development of new segmentation models and a behavioural insights model providing a framework for developing public policies in domains such as healthcare, transportation and sustainability.
I draw on different therapeutic models such as solution focused therapy as well as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and humanistic approach, integrating them with each other. I believe that besides dealing with the initial challenges that the client proposes, therapy can also become a journey toward personal development and growth so I also draw from positive psychology to promote the wellbeing of my clients, using their strengths and exploring ways towards a more fulfilling and meaningful existence.
We will work collaboratively to understand which way of working best suits your current goals and needs and I always try to make my clients at ease with a warm and non-judgmental approach. This helps to speak openly about uncomfortable issues and explore them within a safe environment, which I aim to provide.
Together, we will consider the origin of your problems and how they may be affecting your life, emotions, cognitions and behaviour and we will come to a mutual understanding of what you are hoping to achieve with our sessions. You will also learn new strategies and tools to help you cope with stress and to deal with difficult emotions and unwanted thoughts.
Over the years I have been fortunate to help hundreds of clients from different backgrounds, and being able to have a positive impact on their lives feels most rewarding.
As a multi passionate I have a broad range of interest both professionally as in my free time and besides my private practice I run a consultancy agency helping entrepreneurs grow and scale their business balancing economic growth, with making a positive impact while taking care of their own wellbeing. As a musician I am very passionate about the arts and in my free time I am an avid dancer (from ballet and modern jazz to hiphop and salsa), surfer and (portrait) photographer and I am always exploring ways in which we can lead happier and healthier lives through meditation, mindfulness, gratitude, meaningful connections and doing more of what brings you joy.
I am a Private Dutch and English-speaking Psychologist and CBT Therapist based in Amsterdam, and also working by GDPR proof tele-consultation (Whereby), with (young) adults.
