My Credentials:

Hello, I am an Italian psychologist and counselor, presently training as an Adlerian psychotherapist. I have a University Degree in Psychology, and after the degree I underwent 1 year of internship before passing the Italian State Exam to be allowed to practice as a psychologist. I got a diploma in holistic counseling and one in Imaginative Experience counseling, and I also followed a course in strategic counseling and coaching, and a course in REBT. I am presently at the end of my 3rd year of a course in Adlerian psychodynamic psychotherapy. Besides working for many Charities, I have given courses, both online and in presence, on topics such as stress management, negative emotions management (anger and sadness), self-esteem, assertiveness, communication strategies, management of work-related issues. I am presently working mostly on private practice, with adult clients. My areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, self-betterment, work-related problems, relationship issues.

My Approach:

I am focused on the person, more than on the eventual symptoms: I always try to see beyond the present difficulties which the person is facing, in order to enhance his own potential. My approach is based on active listening and on the creation of a good relationship, because I feel that therapy is a sort of “dance”, which involves both the client and the psychologist:  as in a dance, both persons have to move together, in order to have an harmony. I wish to create a “safe space” in which client can feel free to express him/herself. I tend to focus on 3 temporal dimensions: the past, where there are often the “roots” of present problems; the present, what the person lives and feels in the “here-and-now”; the future, i.e. the life-path which the person would like to take, or his/her dreams or “big targets”. I believe that the aim of therapy is not only reducing or managing the eventual symptoms, but also of creating the best conditions which can enable the person to reach his/her life goals.  Very often, people who address a psychologist feel confused, or overwhelmed, and these negative feelings might bring them to “forget” their potentials and their qualities: another aim of therapy is also to “encourage” the person, helping him/her to “re-discover” his/her “true self” and all the qualities which have, maybe, been temporarily forgotten. The target of the therapy and its duration are always agreed with the client, as well as any decision concerning the eventual “direction” of the therapy. I am passionate about my job, and I like to think that psychology can really make a positive difference in life.

About Me:

Besides a degree in Psychology, I also have a degree in Literature, since reading is one of my biggest passions: I could read nearly anything, even if my favourites are still thrillers and detective stories !!    I love travelling, and I try to do it as often as I can: I think my passion for traveling is related to my “positive curiosity” which always encourages me to face new experiences, visit new places and meet new people.

Summary:

I am an English-speaking Therapist in Milan specialised in psychological therapies for adults.
