My Credentials:

I am a certified counselor registered with the Spanish Association of Gestalt Therapy. I was trained and certified in Spain, where I was raised within a Spanish-American-British family. I am also a year away from obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, and I am certified as an Integrative Psychotherapy with the SAT Program, the Claudio Naranjo Enneagram Course. I have been working as a counselor in private practice for 13 years now. I work primarily counseling parents and families, siblings, and couples. My approach as an In-home family counselor allows me to put into practice a very succesful therapeutic format in which I visit with clients in their homes rather than them coming to my office or sending over their children. I have also taught introductory Gestalt therapy workshops to prospective couseling trainees, as well as body-awareness-through-the-voice workshops both in the University of Málaga, Spain, and in community and women services programs in the City of Málaga and the City of Las Rozas de Madrid. I have volunteered teaching mindfulness and body awareness to last year university students, and I worked 4 years as a student assistant tutor in Gestalt Therapy training programs.

My Approach:

My approach is humanistic and integrative, and I include therapeutic approaches such as Gestalt Therapy, mindfulness, systemic approach and CBT. Emotional distress and relational difficulties are very much in my area of expertise, as everything else really boils down to these. As an emotional and relational counselor, I use an array of techniques and tools designed to help the client discover and shed light on the emotional and relational difficulties they might be experiencing in their life, and help them find ways to deal with them in a profound yet direct and practical way. I also include in my work existential counseling for clients who struggle with fear-of-death related anxiety, loss, ageing or identity crisis that cause intrusive thoughts and low-self esteem. I am a gentle and patient counselor, and my sessions are very much about creating a safe space for the client to feel heard, seen, and felt.

About Me:

I am closer to my sixties than to my fifties, so I was a late bloomer regarding career paths. I worked as a translator and interpreter until my mid-forties, when I discovered my passion -and natural skills- for counseling and being of service for hurting people, so I got certified as a counselor while raising two children. My formal and informal studies include singing, piano and trumpet, voice as a therapeutic tool, and music therapy for teachers. I am a yoga and meditation life-long student, and I have been practicing for decades. The benefits of this practice not only reach my personal life but also my work and my relationships. I am an avid reader of anything related to psychology, nutrition, spirituality, or surfing! I try to keep healthy both physically and mentally, enjoying nature, culture, and nourishing relationships.

I am a Spanish-English speaking counselor based in Madrid/Galicia and also working online, specialized in working In-home with families, as well as counseling couples, individuals, and groups.
