My name is Anastasia Mosiou and I am an expat psychologist coming from Greece, currently living in the Netherlands. The idea of becoming a psychologist took root during my adolescence when I discovered my passion for supporting people around me and my empathy for individuals grappling with psychological challenges. My journey in the field of psychology began by pursuing a bachelor in Psychology at University of Crete. After completing my bachelor studies, getting experience as an intern, as a volunteer and, finally, as a certified psychologist, I decided to do my masters in Clinical Psychology at Leiden University. Since August 2021, I have been living in the Netherlands, aiming to build a career as a psychologist-mental health counselor and support the international and expatriate community.
In my practice, I mainly use Emotion-focused therapy (EFT). EFT is an evidence-based, humanistic approach that emphasizes the central role of emotions in human functioning, therapeutic change, and psychological well-being. Our emotions guide us in identifying what is important to us in a situation, serving as compass for what we want and need. However, I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I tailor each treatment by integrating elements from other approaches, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Mindfulness. Besides, for me the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important keys for the human’s change. Therefore, I trive to build strong, empathetic connections with my therapy clients, characterized by genuiness, trust, compassion, and unconditional acceptance.Throughout our sessions, we can work on exploring, identifying, processing, and expressing your emotions and thoughts in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. My aim is to empower you and help you become more in touch with your emotions, experiences, and your body. My priority is to address what matters most to you during each session. I respect your choice to focus on what is important to you at that present moment!
Being an expat myself, I can totally relate to the difficulties experienced by people who live in a foreign country. Thus, my mission is to ensure that every individual is heard, understood, and supported, regardless of where they are or where they belong.
I am an English-speaking psychologist in the Netherlands specialised in working with adults.
