My Credentials:

I earned my BSc in Clinical Psychology at a private Jesuit university in Guatemala City. At that time, obtaining a bachelor’s degree took six years, involving extensive theoretical studies as well as practical work. In my last two years of studies, I had to complete practical work. In the first year, I chose to work at an educational center for underage girls who had committed criminal offenses. In my second year, I chose a small clinic in a conflict-prone area of the city. These two experiences are very meaningful to me and have shaped my interest in social justice. During the last two years of my bachelor’s program, I also started studying psychoanalysis and joined a study group. In 2002, I moved to Spain to pursue my master’s degree in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and continued my studies in psychoanalysis. Here in Spain, I have worked for more than 15 years in various public services, offering counseling, mediation, and group and individual psychotherapy for families facing different challenges. For the last five years, I worked as a psychotherapist with refugees in Madrid. I have extensive experience working with individuals who have suffered from very traumatic situations, from whom I have learned a lot about resilience. I am a licensed Health Psychologist registered at the Colegio Oficial de Psicología in Madrid.

My Approach:

For me, psychotherapy offers a safe space where the person feels confident to explore their inner world and their discomfort in the company and in a close relationship with the psychotherapist. Therapy also adapts to the particularity of each person, taking into account their culture, their vision of the world, their rhythm, and their processes to adapt to their needs. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy has been associated with a very cold and distanced attitude from the psychotherapist. I have a different approach. I believe that for therapy to work, the therapist should feel comfortable and find their own way to be close and welcoming. We, as therapists, are responsible for creating a safe environment for the person to feel confident and secure. Parallel to my work as a psychologist in the social field, I maintained a private practice. Since 2024, I have decided to dedicate my time solely to my private practice. I have my office in the center of Madrid, at Sol. I am passionate about my job as a psychotherapist; it is always challenging and gratifying.

About Me:

I am a very active person. I love to travel and to make plans with friends and family. I like to be physically and mentally active, whether exercising, reading, or studying. I love nature and animals. I am a mother of three, and we have a dog and a cat.
