7 Years of Experience

My Credentials:

With experience of the military in the early years of my career, I soon realised that, although proud of my service, I felt more comfortable helping people. Later in life, finding myself in a sales job I decided it was time to dedicate myself to exploring my life and becoming a counsellor. I have a BA (Hons) in Counselling from Middlesex University. I have experience in long term therapy, NHS time limited and prison counselling. I am a registered member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I’m an experienced group therapy facilitator with a MA in Psychoanalytic Studies from Birkbeck College. I am currently undertaking a certificate in Couple and Relationship Therapy at The Grove.

My Approach:

Counselling takes place when a counsellor sees a client in a private and confidential setting to explore a difficulty the client is having, distress they may be experiencing, their dissatisfaction with life or lack of direction and purpose. Counselling is a way of enabling choice or change or reducing confusion. It does not involve giving advice or directing a client to take a particular course of action. Counsellors do not judge their clients in any way. By listening attentively and patiently, the counsellor can begin to perceive the difficulties from the client’s point of view and help them see things more clearly, possibly from a different perspective.

In the counselling sessions with me, you can explore various aspects of your life and feelings, discussing them freely and openly in a way that is rarely possible with friends or family. Bottled-up emotions such as anger, anxiety,  grief and embarrassment can become very intense, and counselling offers an opportunity to explore them to make them easier to understand. The counsellor will encourage the expression of feelings and, as a result of their training, will be able to accept and reflect on the client’s problems.

I believe that everyone can benefit from talking therapy. There is no taboo in being able to speak about your emotions, fears, confusions, anxieties or trauma. I understand that you are the expert in your life and I trust that you will make the right decisions that are best for you. I will listen using my knowledge and experience to reflect your patterns and true emotions enabling you to process them in a healthy way and put your mental health first.

About Me:

I was was born and bred in multi-cultural south London and I pride myself on understanding people from all different backgrounds. I have been on my own journey of personal development so I can relate to any struggles that we all face day to day. Exploring origins of behaviour is important to understanding your thought patterns and the reasons why you act the way you do. Have you been made to feel different to others? Have you felt judged? Is facing your thoughts and feelings difficult? Have you suffered physical and emotional abuse? If so, I offer you a space to get these things out of your head, so you can start to see them for what they really are, and then prioritise them. I’m knowledgeable, experienced and understanding. I offer a warm, confidential and safe space to talk about all of the issues that you are facing. I am an integrative counsellor that works in the best way to suit your needs. I have experience in CBT, Psychodynamics and Person-Centred theory.

I am an English-speaking counsellor in Madrid (Spain), registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy .I have a BA (Hons) in Counselling from Middlesex University and an MA in Psychoanalytic Studies from Birkbeck College. I offer both in-person and online sessions to adults.
